MAK Welfare actively participates in disaster relief efforts, providing essential aid and support to affected communities during times of crisis. Through strategic coordination and swift action, MAK endeavors to alleviate suffering and rebuild resilience in the face of adversity.

Flood Relief 2022

In collaboration with Akhuwat Foundation 2,000 ration bags worth Rs 10 million were distributed among flood- affected families in DG Khan, Punjab; Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Khairpur and Thatta, Sindh; and Pasheen, Balochistan. The ration bags contained a variety of food items for approximately one month of sustenance for a family of six to seven individuals. Additionally, a contribution of Rs 5 million was made for the long-term rehabilitation of the affected areas.

Covid-19 Response

In 2020, the MAK Welfare Trust and the Kasuri family contributed Rs 39.5 million towards covid relief for the procurement and distribution of essential food items as ration packs, mainly to daily-wage workers and their families. These ration packs included necessary food supplies to help sustain a family of five for approximately one month, and over 13,000 households in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, and Kasur were reached.

A further Rs 20 million was donated to the Prime Minister’s Covid-19 Relief Fund.

Flood Relief 2010

In 2010, Rs 10 million was donated to official Flood Relief Funds along with relief goods.

In 2011, a total of Rs 35.5 million were contributed by MAK and its volunteers. The funds were utilised for the reconstruction of a village in Moza Lal Shah consisting of 25 houses. This project was initiated under ‘Adopt a Village Programme’ by the Punjab Government through PDMA. The project included construction of a co-education primary school in Moza Lal Shah for 300 to 400 students and the reconstruction of three government schools. These rebuilding efforts were undertaken in collaboration with the Army Headquarters 11 Corps.

Relief Operation for IDPs

A relief operation was launched for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in 2009, when Pakistan faced a massive refugee crisis during Operation Rah-e-Nijat, the Pakistan military’s air and ground offensive against the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants of South Waziristan.More than 120 volunteers were engaged in humanitarian work at the camps set up in Mardan. These activities were targeted around aiding 3,000 to 5,000 families in five to six weeks. Cash, medicines, sleeping mats, pedestal fans and hand fans, dry food, water coolers and shoes were distributed among the IDPs. Financial assistance and necessities were also provided to about 250 IDP families sheltered at the Lutheran Church in Mardan.

A further Rs 20 million was donated to the Prime Minister’s Covid-19 Relief Fund.

Nepal Earthquake 2015

The severe earthquake that hit close to Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, in April 2015, resulted in approximately 9,000 fatalities and left many thousands injured. This catastrophic event also led to the damage or destruction of over 600,000 structures in Kathmandu and surrounding areas. In response, the MAK Welfare Trust contributed by donating tents and other in-kind assistance valued around Rs 2 million.
